poisonedgrace: (panic!)
I have a job interview in a couple of hours.
I need to finish the painting I have been working on.
It's called "Perseus was a Stupid Jerk".
I need to make the Prop T-Shirt for the Music Video Project.
I do not own an iron (hardly surprising, let's face it) so I will go do that today up at the mansion.

I need a few people for this music video project.  I'm not worried about the crowd scenes, that's covered (enough).
Not really worried about the locations either, that shouldn't be an issue to speak of.
Guerrilla Film Making 101: Film Fast, escape before anyone can question you.

What I DO need are a couple of girls who could play "Snooty College Girl 1" and Snooty College Girl 2", and a couple of guys who could be their aggressive, bullyish (we will assume, although it is never spelled out) boyfriends.  There are the only major roles that are currently not yet cast.  Everything else I have covered.

I have a couple of feelers out on this, but nothing positive yet.  The video consists of these 4 as main characters, our "Anti-Hero" (who is cast) and Various And Assorted Monsters (all of whom are cast).  I need to make a banner for the fraternity party (I think I've settled on "Mu Epsilon Alpha Nu" because there doesn't seem to actually BE one [OMG THERES SO MANY THIS WAS HARDER THAN YOU THINK!] and because it spells out 'M.E.A.N.' in initials, which is funny). And umm..... yeah, that's it off the top of my head.

Slow and steady hate
growing in my gut
A child named Grudge
and her twin sister
Discontent

Seasons change
and I remain
Waiting in the wings
Organizing all these things
Wondering what it means

Fourth in command
Heir to the Throne of Woe
Marching bravely on
bearing the flag and blowing the horn
in the Army of the Absurd

I'll catch you up a bit...
Was really busy with Halloween Stuff until the last minute, but I completed everything which I had realistically hoped to accomplish.

I'll link some pictures rather than post them here, that way if you wish to avoid them, you don't have to click.

On this one, I made the robes (from scratch, no pattern), the hat (same as the robes) and the book (it was a bible once upon a time, now it's a nightmarish HP Lovecraft mythos tome). The facial prosthetic was supplied unpainted from mostlydead.com, and I did the makeup / paint / application for it.

Here are the some pictures of the face prosthetic I made for my friend:

This one one on her eye was made from scratch (and applied) by me.  The one on her collarbone was store bought.
She made the fingernails herself and they were amazing and gross and awesome.

I had also helped make a plastic shirt thing for my room mate, but I didn't see a picture of it where you could really get a good look, and I didn't really help too much anyhow haha.

We went downtown Halloween night, right at 6th and Red River, as usual.  Got there a little later than I would have liked, as usual.
During the course of the night, I saw a fight (it had 6 to 8 people in it) which actually crashed into the side of me.  I saw it coming and held on so I didn't get knocked over.  I saw a riot (this one had 10 to 16 people in it) in which 6 cops, pepper spray and 2 paddy wagons were deployed to correct the issue.

Weird, considering all these years I've been going down there and never seeing fights or disturbances at all.
They had the streets blocked off differently, maybe that's why...
None of the people involved were wearing costumes.
The first one involved a girl carrying an infant.  The second one featured a girl who got pepper sprayed by the cops TWICE! once across her whole face, and once right in the eye.  She kept going like a raging beast.  Seriously, that shit barely even slowed her down at all.  And she was five foot nothing and weighed maybe 110 pounds.  She was sort of my hero.

When I was removing my stilts at the end of the night, I got a wicked charlie horse.  It was the same leg that the Fighting Morons crashed into but I don't know if that was the ultimate cause or not.  It was REALLY bad.  Like wanting to scream, roll around and pray to pass out bad.  I had to sit on the sidewalk for a spell and recover.  It ended up being very swollen, and I could not touch it or put any weight on it for 2 days.

Not really sure what happened there, but it's better now.  I usually heal pretty fast though.
___

After that, my friend got in a car crash which sucks, but I think it's all going to be alright in the long run, and no one was injured.
___

Going to see Paranormal Activity 2 at Alamo Lakecreek tonight at 7:50 if anyone else will be there or whatever.
___

Tomorrow, waking up at the crack of early to road trip to east Texas and go to the Texas Renaissance Festival.  after that, we're driving another 1.5 hours east to camp out in a haunted swamp.  Complete with Native American Burial Grounds and lots of Bigfoot sightings.

Should be an awesome time!

I'm sure there's a million things on my mind, but this is already longer than anyone will read, so I'll post it now.

:P

murder revenge & freedom.

You come to me
in the courtyard
bare feet in the snow.

I do not exist.

You come to me in darkness
You are the most beautiful girl
I have ever seen.

Tapping a message on the wall.
You make me stronger.

Come in.
You are allowed to be here.
Come in
through the window.
Come in
You are invited.
Come in
through the doorway.
Come in
You are welcome here.
Come in

You come to me
on the playground
cube held in one pale hand.

I can not exist.

You come to me in the night
You are the most beautiful boy
I have ever seen.

I know what you are.
Seen the scar of where you've been.

Come in.
You are allowed to be here.
Come in
through the window.
Come in
You are invited.
Come in
through the doorway.
Come in
You are welcome here.
Come in
to my heart.

Taste your lips
and live with you.
We should not exist.
Taste your lips
and keep you in a box.
We still exist.
Taste your lips
and kill for you.
Together we persist.

I finally made it through all the halloween cameras!  A surprise 4th camera full of pics was added to the running at the last minute, but I have triumphed!  Next, I'll take a look at those videos and see what I can do as far as putting something together in a sensical manner :D

As promised, for those of you who have not seen yet, I'll post some of my favourite pics in teh blogz for all to suffer through.

Cthulhu Costume:
Behold, for the stars are right!
Cthulhu Costume
It's a little over 9 feet tall. :D

Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn )

In addition to the lights, the costume also had 3 speakers around the waist area.  They were playing Whale Sounds (humpback, if there's any difference?) at 3 seperate octaves, so it made a pretty scary noise on top of everything else.

There are some adjustments I want to make to it before next time, and I want to make some other bits and pieces for another more comedic version of the costume, so I can get double use out of it.

Also, I think before next halloween, I'm going to make a massive throne to go with it.  Then I can have a place to rest my weary giant 9 foot ass.

OK, I'LL JUST SAY THIS FIRST IN ALL ANNOYING CAPS SO I DON'T GET A MILLION QUESTIONS:
YES, THERE WILL BE PICTURES, I AM GETTING THEM TOGETHER AS WE SPEAK.

Before that, we'll have a post, so we can keep the pics to themselves.

Was off work Weds, Thurs and Fri of last week, thus the lack of bloggage.
Tues, after work, I got started on trying to finish everything up.  I slept about 3 or 4 hours that night.
Repeat this for Weds.
Thursday, I got up after those few slim hours of rest, and painted like an insane person.

Is art ever truly finished?  I'm not sure it can be, so we'll say that I "got to a stopping point".  I loaded the monster up in the car and drove it to work.  I claimed an empty office, and got strapped up.

It was a good trial run.  The first time I ever actually wore it all and got to test it.  I learned a couple of things I could easily improve for this year, and a couple of things I want to do for next year.  Marauded about the building for everyone to see, and to get me entered in the costume contest (which I won 25.00 visa gift card FTW!), then went home.  The rest of that day is honestly sort of a blur.  I know that I didn't do the improvements I wanted to until the next day.  I know I caught up on my sleep at some point in there.  I was probably just in a coma of exhaustion.

Friday (Halloween) I finished catching up on my sleep, went to Target and got some extra batteries and misc crap.  Had some shitbird start a fight with me in the parking lot, then run like a fucking scalded dog when He realized how very badly that was going to go for him.

Made it to la maison and sat around for a while.... waiting.  Helped people with costumes where needed, made the small improvement to the arm areas as needed.  We all got together for the traditional group pics.

Packed up and headed downtown.  We got off to a much later start than we intended and since it was a friday, parking was the worst ever.  Eventually just parked where I should have gone to to start with, but oh well.  Took four of us to carry all my crap, but we only had to make one trip.  Found a short rock wall near the Sewer Walk (lol wtf is UP with that foul ass area?!) on 6th and I suited up again.

Could not move more than one foot at a time because of the masses thronging around me, needing to have their pictures taken with me.  I say 'needing' because you should have seen them.

Finally made it to 6th and Red River.  I need to make some adjustments to the piece before I venture into crowds THAT thick again.  It's fine in the 'wilderness' but in the crowds like that, it is VERY taxing.

Good ol' Dena had told me about the mighty and wonderous cash prize being offered at a certain costume contest, so we went there to see if I could win.  It was crowded, but fun.  I busted loose a little bit of the strapping mechanism going up a very steep flight of stairs, but it was a good time anyhow.  The contest was alright.  I won.  But I think honestly many of the people voted based on 'politics'.  The guy who got second (and was a strong contender for 1st)...  Well, let's just say his costume was neither original, inspired or particularly 'good'.  I imagine he must have been a well known patron of the establishment to get so much attention, honestly.

There were at least THREE costumes (not counting mine) that were FAR better than his.  Including: some sort of insectile Plague Dr. looking thing, the best Hellboy costume ever, and a Spawn costume.  I dunno what the deal was.  But at least I beat him.     XD

Now, Dena was wrong about the prize.
lol
Let's just not mention it other than to say "there was no cash, only Zuul" and it was not quite 1/1000th as exciting as a free cheeseburger would have been.     :(

However, the smiting of ones competition and the roar of the crowd is some reward in itself, I suppose   ;)

The combination of the hot-ass club, the bright hot stage lights and the 80+ pound costume (the head itself weighs 12 pounds! [the pumpkin head last year only weighed 2 pounds, for comparison haha]) got to me, so I had to take quite a break as my energy was depleted.  Dena procured some water, cause she's solid like that.  Mary Came along after and got like a million bottles of water, and they lasted me through the rest of the night.  A real life saver there!

Tom came in with his camera and filming and wise-cracks.  What a card.   We all made it back out front, re-helmeted (Thazzz mah helmit, bitch!  I had that shit since the fourth graaaaaade!) and paused for more and more and more pics.

Made it back down the street.  The crowds were so happy to see me, it was really hard for me to move as needed to distribute the weight properly, so I had to do it in bursts, with breaks between (you could actually wring sweat out of my headband like a wash cloth, I kid you not).  I've solved some of those issues for next year, so as usual it'll be even better next time   :D :D

Came home and slept forever.  All stiff the next day.  Caught up on my sleep.  Realized that I got pretty fat sitting around working on art so much :(

Gonna try to see to that now.

Still a little sore in places today, but already looking forward to next year.

I'll see to getting those pics all together.  It's just a slow process.

It's funny, looking at these pics now, I can really see how far I've come on the detailing.  These are so early, they don't even really look like the actual thing, now that it's getting closer to completion.  I'm almost ashamed to post them 'cause it looks sooooo much better now.

I'll try to grab more teaser pics today. maybe of some of these same parts so you can see how the details have improved.

Still so busy I'm insane.
And today, I am very tired.  The lack of sleep just hit me this morning I think.  I hate feeling all groggy and unresponsive.  I need a nap in the worst way.

Well...
Plan A wasn't perfect, but I didn't have to digress as far as plan B or C.  I'd say I seem to be somewhere in the area of Plan A  v6.18

I might have to slip down to B as I get a little farther, but I guess time will tell.
___

I dreamed (yes, just lower-case), but I forget about what :(

Sometimes just a few words can mean so very much.  I wonder if any of mine ever carry similar ripples out into the world?  Some of you give me absolute faith in carrying on to the next day and the next beyond.  I thank you for your friendship, companionship and the light and love that you have surrounding you.  Even if you don't know it, or can't see it yourself, I can see it in you.  You are my Sun.  You are my Moon.  You are my Stars.  Like the vast Sky, spread over all creation.  All that distance can make the world a big and lonely place.  I am daily and eternally grateful to have your light to navigate by.  Thank you so very much <3

This weekend is going to be hardcore (hXc, yo!) working working working.  I am hoping to beat my deadline by a couple of days and be done on Wednesday afternoon at the latest.  This is probably going to prove impossible, simply because if I don't sleep at some point, I'll start to make stupid mistakes and become easily distracted, but by god I'mma try anyhow!
